Sky-Blue Wings is a short story, documenting Kuroyukihime and Kurasaki Fuuko's sleepover at the Arita household. It was originally included in Dengeki Bunko Magazine (Vol.25 May 2012 issue, released April 10, 2012).[1][2] It was reprinted in Accel World Light Novel Volume 12.
Background[]
On the day of the Hermes Cord Race, Kurasaki Fuuko discovered that Kuroyukihime stayed over at the Arita household for the previous night. In exchange for keeping this secret, she requested a sleepover within the month.[3]
Plot[]
Chapter 1[]
Due to rumors of the debut of a Space stage one month after the Hermes Cord Race, Arita Haruyuki, Kuroyukihime, and Kurasaki Fuuko train in a zero-gravity environment to get accustomed to it. The story opens on them exiting zero-gravity training and feeling very dizzy. Fuuko and Kuroyukihime then go for a shower. Fuuko warns Haruyuki against escaping while they are showering via a video call, and Kuroyukihime tells him that they will train in the Unlimited Neutral Field until Haruyuki forgets the image.
Chapter 2[]
Fuuko and Kuroyukihime tease Haruyuki about having to remember not to escape while having to forget everything in the shower, then Fuuko starts discussing her trauma of lacking legs, and how Haruyuki helped her overcome it.
Trivia[]
- During the discussion of her trauma, Fuuko mentions a science fiction book about children whose legs were genetically modified into arms to fit a zero-gravity environment. This likely refers to Falling Free of the Vorkosian Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold.
