Accel World (アクセル・ワールド, Akuseru Wārudo) is a Japanese light novel series written by Kawahara Reki (Sword Art Online, The Isolator) and illustrated by HIMA. It has been adapted into two manga series both published in ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Bunko Magazine. The series has also been adapted into a 24-episode anime series by Sunrise which began airing on April 6, 2012 and then got subbed and dubbed by Viz Media. It was also adapted into two video games for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable. A mobile game featuring an original story written by the author has also been released in 2017.

Accel World started as a web novel serialized on the novel forum Arcadia from October to December 2007,[1] released by the author under the previous pen name "Semedain" (攻打引, Semedain) (lit. Attack) as Super Acceleration Burst Linker (超絶加速バースト・リンカー, Chōzetsu Kasoku Bāsuto Rinkā).[2] After being withdrawn for submission, updated, and submitted to ASCII Media Works' 15th Dengeki Novel Prize competition as Accel World under the pen name Kawahara Reki in 2008, it won the grand prize, and was released by ASCII Media Works under their Dengeki Bunko imprint as the first novel of the Accel World light novel series on February 10, 2009, illustrated by HIMA.

A manga adaptation, illustrated by Aigamo Hiroyuki, began serialization in the May 2010 issue of ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Bunko Magazine. A four-panel comic strip manga titled Acchel World. (あくちぇる・わーるど。, Akucheru Wārudo.), created by Akari Ryuryū also began serialization in the May 2010 issue of Dengeki Bunko Magazine. In addition, a spinoff manga titled Accel World/dural: Magisa Garden by Sasakura Ayato began serialization in Dengeki Daioh in March 2012.

The novel series has been adapted into a television anime series, which started airing on April 6, 2012. The opening theme of the series is "Chase the world" by May'n, and the ending theme is named "unfinished" by Kotoko featuring FripSide. Viz Media announced the streaming of the English version on Hulu on April 6, 2012.

A theatrical feature animated film, Accel World: Infinite∞Burst, was released on July 23, 2016. It is based on an original story by Kawahara Reki and directed by Obara Masakazu. The opening theme of the film is "Plasmic Fire" by KOTOKO×ALTIMA.

Accel World has been adapted into multiple video games. Two games, each for both PS3 and PSP, were released around the original anime's release. The first one, Accel World Stage 01: Awakening of the Silver Wings, released on September 13, 2012. The second one, Accel World Stage 02: The Peak of Acceleration, released on January 31, 2013. The video games pick up directly after the events of the first light novel, but present a different storyline from the light novels and anime.

A mobile phone game featuring an original story by the author named Accel World: End of Burst was released on January 16, 2017. A crossover console game, Accel World VS Sword Art Online: Millennium Twilight, was released on March 16, 2017.
